About Naltrexone Implants

The naltrexone implants are inserted in the lower abdominal wall using a sterile procedure under local anaesthetic.

Addex 3 month Naltrexone Implant

We began using these in 2008. The implant consists of one pellet. This is inserted under the skin using one syringe. This will be inserted in the lower abdominal wall using a sterile procedure under local anaesthetic. A 2cm incision is made and the implant inserted. It will be closed with approximately 4 sutures.


Addex 6 month Naltrexone Implant

We began using these in 2008. The implant consists of one pellet. This is inserted under the skin using one syringe. The same procedure is used as for the Addex 3 month implant, and the incision will be closed with approximately 4 sutures.


George O'Neil Double Naltrexone Implant

We began to use these in 2002. The implant consists of pellets approximately 0.5cm x 0.5cm in size. These are inserted under the skin using two syringes each containing ten pellets. They will be inserted in the lower abdominal wall using a sterile procedure under local anaesthetic. A 2cm incision is made and the implant inserted. It will be closed with 4 sutures.


George O'Neil Triple Naltrexone Implant

We began to use these in 2002. The implant consists of pellets approximately 0.5cm x 0.5cm in size. These are inserted under the skin using three syringes each containing ten pellets. The same procedure is used as for the double Naltrexone implants, and the incision will be closed with approximately 4 sutures.
